GIG: NEWCASTLE MONUMENT, AUGUST 30TH

Hey guys!

So last week I posted notifying you I was playing at Newcastle Monument as part of World Cities Week. It was a great experience and something that was new to me as it was a solo acoustic gig, something I've never tried before! Apart from a few minor issues the gig went very well, and I'd like to thank everyone who stood and listened to me play. Lets hope that I'll get some more gigs lined up like this!

If you're interested, below is a video from the gig of me performing my original track, 'For all Time'...

I do apologise about my miffed face at the end, but I have learned a life lesson that I will share with you:

If you are offered a chair (no matter how big the stage) take one! Especially if you have a nylon strap, otherwise your guitar slips (hence the pissed off look)! Get a leather one and you should be fine, it'll grip.

Thank you to Emily Parker for coming to support me and for recording the video!
You can view Emily's fashion blog here (and its worth a read!):http://emulehparker.wordpress.com/

Thank you to Michael Andisen and One Love North East for having me on to play (cheers Mike!) http://www.onelovenortheast.co.uk (currently under construction, contact them via onelovenortheast@gmail.com)

And lastly thank you to anyone who watched and listened, even if you were just walking past, I appreciate it! Also thank you for watching the video!

I shall also link the original recording below. Don't forget to LIKE me on FACEBOOK, FOLLOW me on TWITTER and LISTEN to me on SOUNDCLOUD.

.
Thank you as always,

UPDATE! LOST CAUSE!

Hey everyone!
I've been totally neglecting the blog recently so I apologise for that- been so busy though as you will soon find out!
First of all I'd like to thank everyone that saw me play at Newcastle Monument on the 30th, it was great to get back on stage even though I had a few issues- but more on that later. It went pretty well to say it was my first time playing solo on stage, and lets hope there's more gigs to come in the future!
However the biggest news is that I'm in a new band!

As you might have guessed, we're called 'Lost Cause' and came together when I was recording my original track 'Throne of Roses':

I called the guys over to help me record the backing for the track and promptly afterwards we decided to create a fully functioning band and have been practicing together ever since! The band consists of:
So you guys will be hearing a lot more from me about Lost Cause as we try and set up some local gigs for ourselves! Please do get in touch with us at lostcauseuk@live.com if you have any questions.

LIVE @ NEWCASTLE MONUMENT

Hey guys, it's been a while- been busy preparing lots of things.

Today I've been working on my original track, 'Throne of Roses'- Got a Guitar , MIDI Drums, Vocal and Bass track (thanks to Steven Horseman!) down, needs working into still but I'm really excited to be working on it. Sounding good!

Even bigger news however is I'm performing next Thursday (30th Aug) at Newcastle's Greys Monument at around 3pm. I have a half an hour slot and am performing solo which is going to be really exciting for me. Anyone in Newcastle that day, please do come support me and watch the other performers in aid of Newcastle's World Cities Week!

Thanks for the support guys, please try to come see me next Thursday at around three. Tell your friends and family!

G-PLAY, LATEST TRACK!

I've been playing with freeware guitar amp/pedal VSTs, found a brilliant one with this delay on. I like it when they last forever as it gives the sense that its a loop pedal... which I can't afford :P
Anyhow, cooked up this. It is up to you to listen to it, no singing, just me playing for 4 minutes, so yeah, sorry about that.

In other news, our band have just started practising again so watch this space for future developments!
Best,
Khyle

PUBLISHED!

Hey guys! This week I had an interview published in print and online for my local paper, the Peterlee Star.

In this week’s look into the vibrant East Durham music scene, we visited talented Easington songwriter Khyle Fryer.
Khyle’s music is not only performed by him, but also produced and recorded within the four walls of his home.
He has been part of many bands as guitarist and vocalist, however he is now standing at the front of the stage by himself, playing his own songs his way.
The Star  Currently, what are you doing musically?
Khyle – I’m a singer/songwriter, I play guitar, drums and piano. I used to perform as a bassist in my previous band but recently we split up so I perform as a solo artist.
I study music and music production at Teesside University, record and produce my own tracks.
The Star  You describe yourself as a singer songwriter, what genre would you put yourself in?
Khyle – I don’t limit myself to certain genres and I’m practically open to trying anything. I am currently listening to Death Cab For Cutie, Biffy Clyro. Two Door Cinema Club and Goyte so I would hope that my music is a mix of electric genres.
The Star  What do you hope to achive within music?
Khyle  My goal is for many to hear my music. To achieve some success, maybe even to gig at festivals and in front of thousands of people.
I have had numerous tracks played on BBC Radio and a single I released has sold well and it lifts my spirits. I’ve had numerous tracks played on BBC Radio and airplay across different countries.
○Khyle is trying to make his mark and get his own music heard on the internet. You can add to his current four hundred and thirty three followers on “Soundcloud” http://soundcloud.com/khyle-fryer.
You can also follow him on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/khylef

THRONE OF ROSES (LIVE SESSION)

Hey guys! I'm currently working on an EP, Throne of Roses, and I'm the middle of writing all the material. I decided to try a live version of the eponymous track 'Throne of Roses' with my good friend Jason Savage. 4 Recordings we got done in a day, full of mistakes no doubt but the best of the bunch. The Blues Jam Mr. Savage sings, and I play guitar (very badly). Please do listen and comment!

THE COFFI HOUSE

So I not long ago I played a few songs at The Coffi House in Cardiff, Wales. The songs went down a treat! Now I'm back here in sunny (ha!) Easington, going to be practicing soon with the lads and then shortly after we'll be gigging locally! How does that sound? ;)

With thanks to The Coffi House: http://www.thecoffihouse.com/

Latest edition to my SoundCloud, Something of a Dream.

MY PEERS THINK OTHERWISE

An original piece of mine. I was inspired by Manchester Orchestra with this song. I know it doesn't really sound like their stuff, but I have them to thank for this song anyway. I have recorded it and you can check the recording out here:
